How I’m Feeling: Sick, sick, sick, more tacos please, sick.

Step count is at a low today, both because of my sickness and because of the rain, which came to pour at exactly my walking hour. Even so, I got in three distinct walks today, and I am most proud of my third one, where I took a toddler out into the drizzle to get some steps in spite of myself.
In fact, that walk was the most rewarding. My favorite part was when Melau looked up into the sky, pointed to the heavy rain clouds and yelled, “Mama! That’s your exact favorite color!” It feels so wonderful to be known by him.
Bookstore days are hard ones for fitness, which is a shame to admit because I used to count bookstore days as some of my most active. The walk to and from the store really had me thinking I was doing something huge, and now with the goal of 20,000 steps I’m realizing how little I have been moving to have ever considered THAT my active day.
But I’m not discouraged by that revelation, I’m inspired. Being able to see that a walk to and from the store is not enough movement in a day is a good sign. It means my perspective is shifting and I am moving in the right direction.
Tomorrow I will find a way to move my body more. We have a long car ride in the evening that will condemn me to a seat, so I’ll need to get creative with my movement otherwise.
Looking forward to a better tomorrow,
Sarina
